Seasonal Highlights

While there are no oyster shacks directly in Keya, the famous Kishi area is just a 5-minute drive away. These spots get very busy on weekends, so we recommend booking in advance (where available). Many shacks allow you to bring your own drinks, so feel free to stop by a convenience store first. However, please make sure to take your trash home with you.

You can enjoy plenty of oysters everywhere, but each shack has its own unique menu and specialties. We recommend checking them out beforehand to find your favorite. Also, please confirm their business and last-order hours before visiting.

The oyster season lasts until around March.

For autumn in Keya, we highly recommend Mt. Tateishi. It is just a 6-minute drive from keyanz to the trailhead. From there, a 15-minute hike leads you to the summit, where a stunning 360-degree ocean panorama awaits.
